McFarlane

The McFarlane Room is named in honour of Elizabeth McFarlane, who purchased the property in 1924 and operated it for 13 years as a nursing home. In 1928 Elizabeth went on to marry the infamous Australian “Mulga Bill”and became Mrs William Thompson. Elizabeth’s great-grandson visited us and gifted the guest book from 1924 – this guest book remains on site at Hulbert House and is available for interested guests to view.

The McFarlane room is a more intimate room, for those spending their days out exploring and wanting a cosy space to retreat to in the evenings. Offering external access to the herb garden, the McFarlane Room is perfect for those seeking a little independence with all the creature comforts.

Colour tones of the room are reminiscent of the ancient formal McFarlane tartan from the muted aquamarine of the hand-painted tiles in the bathroom to the black velvet and dusky rose striped walls.

The bathroom offers a walk-in shower, heated towel rail and a mirror over the vanity.
